Let me introduce you to Summer, Mindy, Margot, Juno, Clementine and Amèlie. The Indie Heroines.

Domenico Gnoli

An Italian painter that painted hair...
I found this artist browsing through old catalogues in a book fair that's now up in Madrid.
Reminds me of Botero a bit, but with a mad attention to detail.
Good info in Spanish here.

Postcards!

"Well, well, well.
The ladies are having a fun time.
I felt so sorry that quite a few of the limited edition prints were finished or about to finish, and I was missing the ladies in them. So I've gathered them all in a fabulous sort of postcard party!
These are 10 x 15 cms and have a hand-drawn back printed on them. The card I've used is 250 grs and can be drawn on for further customization!
They come lovingly packed and ready to be shipped all over the world. Who are you sending these ladies to? Where are they going to travel to?
So many stories will arise!"

I've been thinking of presenting the do's as postcards for a while and have finally got round to it.
In this way, you can now acquire a Nosideup hairdo portrait at so many different levels:

Own portrait $ 75
Limited edition prints $20
Printed Bags $15
Postcards $10

How do you like them?
Also, find Nosideup in facebook!

Going shopping with the ladies

Here are all the totes!
They are almost all up in the shop :)

BIG NEWS: Guess who is making a comeback

Oh yes.
They are what you think.
The Ladies (all of them) are making a comeback in unlimited edition totes.
Expect them in the shop tomorrow!

Nosideup in Facebook!

Dear all of you,
As I preparing to enter my MA, I'm trying to build a stronger Nosideup.
I've drawn a few new do's; stamped some cards; included it in my portfolio, etc.
Now, I've decided to go ahead and create a page in Facebook (you can join it here or in the box on the top right).
Even though I already had a facebook blog page, I did not have that much possibility for interaction in that one. So, if you want to join me in facebook, please do! It'll be great to have a closer feel of who you are :)

PS: Stay posted because I've got exciting news later on!

New girls in town

Dear everyone,
these are Liza, Nicola and Paloma (bottom to top) .
They have just moved to my Etsy shop.
Be nice to them (as you see some of them have not had that much of a good day), maybe invite them to your home?

New! Victorian Hair Jewellery

I'm very excited to show you what I've been up to...

These postcard-sized beauties are original watercolor illustrations of Victorian Hair Jewellery.
How do you like them?

Head over gele

Thanks Mr. M!

Thanks Einat!

The bad conscience

It's been 10 days since my last post and my bad conscience is killing me. I don't even know how this has happened. I guess that I've had so many things going on that I haven't even known how to get back on blog track. So, here's the last few days:

-Basically, Mr. M. and I have learnt it's moving time again (most probably). This makes us happy for all the new possibilities, but we feel that Barcelona has been really awesome to us, and feel like our time here has been so short.
-This has also leads to having to act upon the future of my education. We'll see how that goes.
-I've also learnt to paint with liquid watercolours rather than acrylics and I'm in a very blissful Rothko fase. Pictures to come.
-My vegan heart does not take the zoo drawing lessons that well anymore. But I've developed a new personal style.
-Spring isn't quite happening yet.
-I've cut my hair so short I still don't recognize myself in the mirror.
-Fantastic Mr Fox only opened in cinemas now and we loved it.
-Alice in Wonderland did not meet expectatives.

I'm hopefully back now!

Crazy Hair

Culdesac and Studio Marisol are holding a workshop on hair and product design @ Domain de Boisbuchet.

If I only could...

Lost things

Magical and sweet, lovely imaginery. She looks like a cross between Christina Hendricks (aka Joan from Mad Men) and Fornasetti's drawings of Lina Cavalieri.
Via All the mountains.

Melanie Bilenker

This artist and jewellery maker uses her own hair in her pieces.
Reminds me of this and this.
Via Hand/Eye Magazine.

Francesca DiMattio's hair

Francesca DiMattio's work looks like the pic above. That's fine, I like it (I saw it at Abstract America, in The Saatchi Gallery, London). BUT, Francesca DiMattio herself looks like the pics below. And that means I need to master that hair-do with a terrible urgency. Via.

Aesthetics Voodoo

This has been my latest (conceptual) sculpture project (I do three weekly hours of figure modelling in clay too).
I ritually collected my hair after brushing for weeks. Then I made a voodoo doll out of them. And I inflicted on myself cut outs of fashion magazines, pinning them with needles (as you do).
It is presented in a display case with a label, like if it was in an anthropological museum of the future. The label describes that women in the 20th and 21st century were known for bizarre ritual behaviour surrounding ideal aesthetics, such as starving themselves or implanting synthetic bags in their breasts to enhance them.

PS: You might have noticed I have been entering more "me" posts lately. That's because I also blog at The A to Z of makers, where I write mini-profiles of artists I'd like to remember.

Autumn/Winter 09 look

I don't care what fashion magazines might say.

This is OFFICIALLY my A/W 09 look. A girl's victorian nighttime hairdo, as seen in Miss Potter.

Oh, yeah. I've even bought the bows.
